Stewards Academy Hosts Chris Vince MP
Stewards Academy hosted Chris Vince MP recently and he was given a presentation by an award-winning group of Year 10 students. The students had successfully participated in a prestigious national award called ‘Solutions for the Planet’ which embraces environmental sustainability.
As part of this award the team worked to create an idea which encourages people to exercise and charge electronic devices at the same time. The ‘Bio Bike’ uses pedal power to charge phones and other electronics while people exercise.
The Stewards Academy ‘Bio Bike’ team finished second in the regional ‘Solutions for the Planet’ final at the University of East London and received special commendation for their ideas and presentation at the National Final hosted by the Science Museum in London in July 2024.
Paul Hickman, Subject Leader for Geography, said: “Mr Vince was impressed by our students’ presentation and congratulated them on their success. It was an excellent opportunity for him to see some of the excellent young adults we have here at Stewards. I am incredibly proud of all of them.”
