Year 7 speakers at PTI conference
Stewards Academy was invited for the third time to take pupil delegates along to the annual PTI Primary Headteachers' Residential Conference. This year the conference took place at Theobalds Park in Hertfordshire.
The year 7 pupils - Poppy Tant, Rafferty Groat and Reuben Robinson – were asked to consider their educational experience so far and tell the adult delegates about the teaching methodologies which most suited them at junior school.
The pupils showed great confidence and were articulate in explaining the type of teaching which had, at junior school, resulted in them making most progress. They held their audience in the palm of their hands and talked engagingly about their favourite memories of learning at junior school. They were also able to advise the delegates on how they would run a school if they were given the power to do so!!
Deputy Headteacher Marie Erwood, who accompanied the pupils, said: “It is always a huge honour to bring our pupils along to the PTI conference and we are very honoured to have been the only secondary school ever invited to do so. Our pupils looked immaculate and were so confident and thoughtful in the way they addressed an adult audience. Many adults would have been daunted by the task - but they were not. They were all a credit to their families and to Stewards - but most of all to themselves. It was a real pleasure to spend the day with them and the praise they received from the delegates said it all.”
