Stewards Academy hosts anti-bullying workshops
STEWARDS Academy’s Year 8 and Year 9 pupils recently participated in workshop presentations focusing on Anti-bullying: Upstander Impact led by OpenView Education.
The presentations built upon core messages that pupils have explored in Ethics and Values lessons and assemblies led by Mrs Atkinson, our DSL, such as different types of bullying (including cyberbullying), the impact of bullying, responsibilities of bystanders to report bullying and how and where to get help.
In October, our new Year 7 and 8 students will also have the opportunity to participate in the workshops.
Karen James, Subject Leader for Ethics and Values, said: “It is such a powerful experience for pupils to hear from outside speakers and participate in workshops such as these.
‘We regularly speak to pupils and remind them about the impact of bullying, how to handle conflict and where to seek support if needed, how and why we should be kind to others.
“Having these messages embedded and reiterated regularly is so important in the modern day. Our thanks to our presenter, Louise.”
