Year 9 students spent an interesting and informative morning at the Chemistry at Work conference sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Not only were students learning about employment in the Science and Engineering sector they took part in several experiments too.
Ellie Alger from 9HS said “ I enjoyed myself at the Chemistry event and learned a lot about different jobs involving chemistry during the lectures. My understanding of how people use chemistry at work will help me in the future. I enjoyed making the ice cream too!”.
“I have enjoyed today’s experience and all the sessions we participated in. I learned a lot and am sure the knowledge will help me plan my future. I especially enjoyed making the hair gel”
The engineers and scientists presenting at the event are passionate about their subject and this passion transferred itself to the students attending.
A thoroughly worthwhile opportunity.
