Marie Erwood MBE
I was born in Hackney in London and studied for a History degree at the University of London. After my PGCE I started teaching History at Latton Bush in 1975, and became Head of Sixth Form until it closed in 1985.
I moved to Stewards in Jan 1986, and moved through the ranks until I became Deputy Head. I was the Designated Safeguarding Lead from the government inception of the role in 1986 until my retirement in 2020.
In 2010 I received an MBE for Services to Education from Queen Elizabeth II. This was as a result of my work in the local community with ethnic minority pupils, and to support pupil emotional health and well-being alongside Place2be.
I taught history throughout my career with passion and dedication, and I nurtured Pupil Voice as a powerful tool for school improvement. I see my role as a Trustee in my retirement as an exciting natural progression.
